History of the Textile & Fashion Craft Study Program
Tracing the journey of the Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung in building an educational framework grounded in creativity, innovation, the preservation of Indonesian traditional textiles (*wastra Nusantara*), and collaboration, with the aim of producing outstanding graduates who are globally competitive.
Background & Founding
The Textile and Fashion Craft Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung (UM Bandung) embodies the university's commitment to fostering a creative generation ready to navigate the evolving creative industry and the digital era. Aligned with UM Bandung’s vision as an "Islamic Technopreneurial University," the program integrates creativity, technology, entrepreneurship, and Islamic values ​​into its educational process. Situated amidst West Java’s robust textile and fashion industry and the rich textile heritage of the Indonesian archipelago, the program aims to cultivate young talent capable of producing innovative, competitive work that meets contemporary industry demands. Students not only master textile and fashion design and production but also acquire essential skills in business, digitalization, and creative brand development. Through education, research, and community service, the program aspires to serve as a nurturing ground for young creators, innovators, and technopreneurs who can elevate local culture to the global stage and make tangible contributions to the growth of Indonesia’s creative industry.
